Streaming giant urged to fix ‘alarming’ omission of Scots language

SPOTIFY has been urged to include Scots on its list of languages after its exclusion was noted by a prominent Scottish musician. In a letter to the music streaming giant, singer Iona Fyfe said it was “heartbreaking” that people who sing in Scots have to categorise their songs as “English”.

Fyfe has written to Spotify.

Spotify apologises for omitting Scots language option on music site

The news comes after award-winning singer Iona Fyfe discovered that Scots was the only British minority language omitted from the streaming giant’s site. “We apologise that the Scots language isn’t included in the list yet,” Spotify told Ms Fyfe via Twitter.
