Video: The origins of the Scots language – in Scots
The Angus McIntosh Centre for Historical Linguistics at the University of Edinburgh has published a short video – in both Scots and English versions – tracking what we know of the tongues, peoples and events that shaped the earliest linguistic history of Scots.
The video is the result of a collaboration between: AMC researchers; Hamish MacDonald, the Scots Scriever (who narrates the Scots version); Derrick McClure, University of Aberdeen (who translated the narrative into Scots); Alistair Hardie (who performed the accompanying music); and the University of Edinburgh Innovation Team (who created the animation).
